On the afternoon of 16 February 2014, H.E. Ambassador Minute Alapati Taupo represented the Embassy of Tuvalu in the R.O.C. (Taiwan) at the global launch of “An Era of Conscience” at the China Petroleum Corporation Building in Taipei. The “Era of Conscience” movement was initiated by the Federation of World Peace and Love, the UN/NGO Association of World Citizens, and the Tai Ji Men Qigong Academy on 1 January 2014. Since declaring the movement, these organizations have worked diligently to collect messages encouraging global citizens to lead conscientious lives from government representatives and influential members of legal, medical, and entertainment circles around the world.
After recording his message of peace for the “Era of Conscience” movement in January, H.E. Ambassador Minute Alapati Taupo personally participated in the global launch of the movement on 16 February to show his steadfast support for the movement and his hope that all people can collaborate to promote peace and human rights internationally. Ambassador Taupo was joined at the global launch by other representatives of nations across the global, including Kiribati, Jordan, Japan, India, Indonesia, Guatemala, Mozambique, the Philippines, South Korea, Swaziland, and Honduras, as well as numerous leaders in Taiwanese society, such as former Minister of the Interior Lee Hong-Yuan; former Vice President Annette Lu; Chairman of the Straits Exchange Foundation Lin Join-sane; and legislators Ting Shou-chung, Yu Mei-Nu, Lin Hung-Chih, Hsu Tain-Tsair, Tuan Yi-kang, Huang Chih-Hsiung, Tsai Cheng-Yuan, Chen Shei-Saint, and Lo Shu-Lei.
Supporters of the “Era of Conscience” movement also congregated in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia, Vietnam, the United Kingdom, and Italy and connected with representatives at the main event venue in Taipei via the Internet to collectively commence the “Era of Conscience” movement. During the launch ceremony, a wall of televisions was also activated to showcase “words of conscience” delivered by government officials and other significant figures throughout the world.
