Tuvalu is a small South Pacific nation composed of nine enchanting islands, abundant turquoise lagoons, and stunning coral reefs. Tuvalu boasts pristine beaches and a serene tropical atmosphere, making it a magnificent ocean paradise. Additionally, although the nation’s landmass and population are small, Tuvalu’s traditional culture is highly representative among the Polynesian subregion and stands as a paradigm that has successfully integrated traditional and modern trends. Unfortunately, over time, Tuvalu has also increasingly experienced the detrimental influences of sea level rise and other effects of global warming, which has threatened both the nation’s unique traditional culture and its exquisite island scenery. Consequently, when promoting tourism, the Government of Tuvalu has consistently prioritized environmental and cultural preservation. This emphasis has led to the development of an uncommon tourism culture in which the focus is not on large-scale resorts cut off from the daily lives of the local people but on an experience that immerses travelers in the realities of Tuvaluan life and the true, unadulterated beauty of the Tuvaluan countryside.
Consequently, during the 2015 Taipei Tourism Expo, the Tuvalu Booth will focus on promoting Tuvalu’s local culture and breathtaking landscapes, and will also unveil brand new Tuvalu travel itineraries that wonderfully integrate Tuvalu’s fantastic culture and natural beauty and show you the best way to experience Tuvalu! Staff at the Tuvalu Booth will also introduce several of the tourism activities currently popular in Tuvalu, including customized “island-hopping” trips, snorkeling and scuba diving adventures, and traditional dance and culture performances. Additionally, visitors to the Tuvalu Booth will be invited to participate in the various games and activities that will be hosted at the Booth throughout the Expo and will have the chance to win one-of-a-kind prizes including folders featuring Tuvalu’s scenery, “Timeless Tuvalu” magnets, and Tuvalu’s world-famous commemorative stamps! Finally, the Tuvalu Booth will exhibit culturally representative handicrafts, such as shell necklaces and traditional fans, as well as stunning photos of Tuvalu’s scenery shot by professional photographers, to ensure that Expo visitors never forget Timeless Tuvalu!
