Ambassador Limasene Teatu Attends International Conference Co-Sponsored by Brookings Institution and National Chengchi University Discussed Risks to Asian Peace/涂莉梅大使參加由華府智庫「布魯金斯研究院」及國立政治大學主辦會議 / by Minute Taupo

On 17th June, 2019, H.E. Ambassador Limasene Teatu was invited to "The Risks to the Asian Peace: Avoiding Paths to Great Power War", co-organized by the Brookings Institute and College of International Affairs, National Chengchi University at Palais de Chine Hotel, Taipei.

The one-day international conference attracted Taiwanese officials, diplomatic missions, academics and students to discuss issues connected to the risks to Asian Peace. The conference also featured a keynote speech by a retired United States Marine Corps four-star general, and former commander of the NATO International Security Assistance Force and U.S. Forces - Afghanistan (USFOR-A) and current President of U.S.-based Brookings Institution General John R. Allen.

General Allen was particularly worried about the current situation in the South China Sea. He believed miscalculation and misjudgment in the area could trigger a catastrophic armed conflict that would impact a couple of generations in the region of East Asia.
